5 Day Art+Work+Living Painting Challenge

I just completed the 5 day Facebook Art+Work+Living painting challenge hosted by Mary Gilkerson. This challenge encourages artists to paint every day for 5 days for 20 minutes ( not counting prep time such a value study, sketching and paint mixing). The goal of the challenge is to establish a daily painting practice and it worked for me! When I commit to working every day, I end up prioritizing my work which doesn't always happen on typical busy days during the week or on weekends. I go to the studio, get down to business, and before too long, I've finished a painting- maybe not a great painting, but I've put in the work, learned a few things along the way, and really enjoyed the flow. Oh, and another perk of the challenge, is getting to know other artists who are participating through their work and feedback. We have a virtual art family over at Art+Work+Living and it is a very generous and kind family- just what the world needs now as Dusty Springfield used to say.
