In this painting, i decided to use a limited palette of French Ultramarine Blue and Burnt Sienna ( with a touch of Olive Green added here and there). The blue is the cool and the burnt sienna, the warm. When mixed together, they create a wide range of neutrals as well as some pretty powerful darks. I chose this palette because it also contributes to the dramatic mood I wanted to convey of a stormy sky over the marsh. Yes, this is the same house you have seen in some of my previous paintings. This time it plays a larger role in the composition.
