In this painting, I'm playing with using more expressive color rather than painting the marsh the way it actually looked. I was inspired by the paintings of Eric Weigardt whose work I love for it's looseness and fresh and saturated use of color. Employing the concept of warm colors advancing and cool colors receding, I tried to capture a sense of space and depth . I'm also attempting to simplify the shapes and the detail. This is a direction I would like to explore more in the future.
