Once again, I'm working on hot press paper, Fabriano to be exact. It's a challenging surface because every brush stroke leaves its mark- better get it right the first time! The sky was done in 2 steps- first a light wash of yellow ochre which was allowed to dry. After that, a gradated wash of cobalt and French ultramarine was applied. My goal here was to capture the expansive nature of the marsh, focusing less on details and more on the general nuances of the marsh grass and the water.
