Lately, I've been looking at the paintings of James Fletcher-Watson, a British watercolor artist. Although I have not used his palette ( which I intend to do at some point), I have studied the way he paints skies. They are breathtaking, full of subtleties of color and light and energy. I tried to paint the sky in this piece more the way he does in his work. It's really fun to break out of my rut with skies and explore some new techniques.
